The Executive Director of the Campaign for a Free and Fair Election (CaFFE) Mannas Makeen at a media briefing held in Matara on Sunday, called upon all contestants and their supporters to carry out their election campaigns in a peaceful manner at the forthcoming local government election.
Makeen said that CaFFE hoped to deploy about 175 election observers during the election period and another 2,000 independent monitors on election day if CaFFE succeeds in securing funding.
The CaFFE boss said that the number of contestants at the 2023 polls would surpass the 57,219 that contested the 2018 LG polls. He cautioned that every person should act with utmost restraint during the election period.
