Trinity College has appointed Captain and Vice Captains for the year 2023 for their Athletics team. Captain is Umar Manzil, who has been in athletics since 2014 and according to news in 2018 he set a record in the 300m hurdles at the School Sports meet which is still intact. At District meet he was the leader of the junior team which emerged as champions and he won under15 athlete award. He was fourth in the 4x400m event in the senior Tarbat tchampionship in 2022 and in the National Meet 2022 he took the second place in4x400m. He has received more accolades such as National School Games Colors and Central Province School Colors.
The vice captains are Sawan Aluvihare and Thidas Bandranayake. Sawan Aluwihare is also a good athlete he was placed first in the inter school road race in 2020 and also won the champion athlete award in the 2022 and was number two in the inter house road race. Thidas Bandaranayake is a good athlete in pu tshot; discus and javelin throw at the Inter House Track and Field events
Trinity cricketers do well
Trinity cricketers led by Rahal Amarasinghe and vice captain Vibhavith Ehelepola with the rest of the players have made the school and Kandy proud by winning the division one tier “A” limited over’tournament. In this tournament Trinity cricketers did their best with both bat and the ball
Central Boarding House champions
At the Trinity College inter house track and field competition which took place on Saturday, Central Boarding house crowned as champions, they were the defending champions. And the rest of positions were won by Lamuel House, Simitharachchy House and Oorloff House and Garret. The athletes who participated in the event gave a superb display and there are many up and coming athletes who are sure to do well. The event was held under the distinguished patronage of one of the finest sportsmen of the school Duminda de Silva who is aRyde Gold Medalist /and a topclass ruggerite and basketballer.
