CR jump to second spot in Rugby League

CR and FC took a huge step towards regaining the SLR Nippon Paint Inter-Club League Rugby Championship when they leapfrogged to second place in the latest points table after the completion of the sixth week of matches of the tournament.

CR and FC are now within touching distance of the table leaders and the defending champions Kandy SC, after they cruised to a 33-27 victory over Navy SC at Longden Place last week.

This was also CR and FC’s fourth successive victory of the tournament as they moved to second place of the points table for the first time with a total of 29 points – just four points behind the leaders Kandy SC.

Meanwhile, in another significant change of position of this week’s points table, Havelock SC have slumped to third place following their shock 19-21 defeat at the hands of Police SC at Havelock Park last week. The Havies, with two defeats from their six outings, are now facing a tough task to regain the league title as they were pushed to third place with a total of 25 points.

The only consolation for Havelock SC is that they are level with Kandy SC with the number of tries scored as both teams have crossed the whitewash on 23 occasions.
