Attendance of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) employees amidst the Wednesday’s trade union action would be taken into account as one of the indicators in restructuring the numbers needed to operate CEB to have an uninterrupted power supply, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said. Issuing a twitter message on Thursday, he said the attendance of the CEB employees during the trade union action remained at 60 per cent.
As a whole, 8,940 out of 22,460 employees were absent during the TU action and the absent rate is 39.9 per cent. The highest number were absent from the Corporate Strategy section where 87 persons out of 128 were absent and the absence rate is 67.9 per cent, he pointed out.
“While some services were not available to the public, it could be one indicator to take into account in restructuring the numbers needed to operate CEB to have an uninterrupted supply of power”, he said.
Meanwhile, he said that a meeting was held between the top management of CEB and the members of the restructuring committee on Thursday morning to expedite the proposed reforms,
financial audits, assets audits, human resource audits and unbundling was identified as initial steps in the restructuring process, he said.
