The Katunayake Post Office, which was in a dilapidated state and in an unpleasant environment, was transformed into a government office located in a serene environment, providing efficient services.
This was subject to appreciation by the Postal Department on World Post Day and the Sri Lanka Postal Department had recently taken steps to present the award for the best post office within the Gampaha District and issued a commemorative stamp as well.
The Katunayake Post Office, established in 1977, provides services to the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake Free Trade Zone and thousands of other local residents.
The post mistress and her staff took the initiative to transform the Katunayake post office, which was located in an overgrown area with jungle and crumbling buildings, into an efficient customer service provider in a new environment.
The Katunayake post office won the award for the best post office located in Gampaha district on World Post Day 2022.
Also, further appreciating this event, the Postal Department had taken steps to release a commemorative stamp worth Rs. 25 at the postal headquarters, with the image of the Katunayake post office.
Post Mistress Malka Marasinghe, along with her team of 18 had engaged in the transformation of the Katunayake Post Office.
