Two die after falling into sewage pit

Two persons died after falling into a sewage pit at Hettiyawatte junction in the Kotahena Police area.The two who fell into the sewage canal while repairing the pipe system died after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, the Police Media Spokesman’s Office said.  

Another person was injured but is out of danger.

The deceased aged 28 and 38 respectively are casual labourers of the Colombo Municipal Council and are residents of Colombo 10 and Colombo 14.

“It was revealed that yesterday afternoon (27) while repairing the sewage system, one person fell into the sewer and the other person who went down into the sewer to save him suffered the same fate,” the Police said.
