Fourteen road deaths during season

Fourteen deaths have been reported due to road accidents, during April 13, 14 and 15 which includes the Sinhala and Tamil New Year period, the Police Media Spokesman’s office reported. 

Police media spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said a large number of people too have been injured during the said period. He urged motorists to be cautious and not to drive after consuming liquor. Meanwhile, at least 15 persons were injured when a cab and van collided on the Ratnapura- Embilipitiya main road on Saturday.

Police said the cab was taking a turn on the road when the van travelling towards Embilipitiya crashed into it. A motorcycle too crashed against the van.
