Our aim was to win the game not to go for records, says Dimuth

We never thought about records and our aim was to win the game said Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne. After the match we discuss about other matters and make plans and during the game we are always focused to win the match .

. Any way this is 100 Test win for Sri Lanka and I am really proud my leadership for this 100th test win. Actually there are several positives especially our batters and bowlers really played well and good team commitment to win the game and win the series.

Especially when Ireland got 492 our aim was to score 700 runs and our top order batting clicked to go for a big innings. Our batters scored heavily two hundreds bymy self and Angelo and two double centuries by Kusal and Nishan Madushka I always like to see consistent batting and that is very important.and that is very good for test cricket said skipper Dimuth Karunaratne.

Actually Prabath Jayasuriya the leg spinner really bowled well while Ramesh Mendis came back strongly to get five wicket haul. The two pacemen Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando did really well to pick wickets and Asitha bowled with good length and bounce to make good challenge against Irish batters.

We saw our players displayed their skills and gained confidence added Skipper Dimuth . I always wanted to give permanent batting position to all players and establish their places. Kusal Mendis has good potential to bat at number three while new opener Nishan Madushka has good techniques and his simple approach helped him and got match exposure Madushka can be a good stroke maker in the top order says skipper Dimuth I have discussed about my captaincy but never finalized and wanted to discuss more. Actually I like to see new test captain being groomed . We have four senior players and one of them can be the captain

Meanwhile Ireland skipper Andy Balbirinie said Sri Lankan bowlers did real job to get their victory. First time we played five full days of test cricket and got more lessons from this test series. Especially we really enjoyed well at Galle but wanted to improve our skills in test cricket.

Sri Lankan pitches are favourable for spinners but we did well to score 492 runs which was our highest test innings but disappointed for losing after fighting all five days said Ireland skipper Andy
