Thirty seven unidentified bodies at CNH mortuary

Fifteen bodies interred, 18 in cold storage

A Colombo National Hospital spokesman said that 37 unidentified bodies had been kept in the mortuary of the Colombo National   Hospital for month and 15 bodies interred the day before yesterday (28).

He said that 18 more bodies have been deposited in the mortuary of the Colombo National Hospital and that they will be kept in the cold storage for a month until the owners of the bodies arrive to claim them.

The spokesman who claims that dead bodies whose owners do not come forward will be subject to an inspection at the end of a month and buried at the expense of the government said that although the details of the patients entering the emergency department or outpatient department are recorded in the books and their data is available, it is not possible to find next of kin of persons who die after being brought in the 1990 Suwa Seriya ambulances, which has become a big problem for the Colombo National Hospital.

He said that there are five bodies that cannot be identified at this time. One death was of a person who had been brought in by the Dematagoda police and another was an Iranian who was arrested and imprisoned due to drugs, but committed suicide by drinking Sanitises and inform the public through the public media, also mentioned that if no one comes forward to claim the dead bodies they will be buried at the government’s expense.
