One of the main activists of the Tamil Diaspora living in Canada, Roy Samadanam, visited the Chief Incumbent of the Atamasthana Most Ven.Pallegama Hemarathana Thera with Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and engaged in a long discussion on Thursday (1).
Samadanam emphasized the need to create reconciliation between a large number of people who left the country during the conflict from Sri Lanka, to create the necessary environment for living in harmony by preventing such conflicts from taking place again, and to carry out peace building activities in an orderly manner.
Dr. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, said that the Maha Sangha has been working towards the task of building national reconciliation since the time of the kings, and had always ensured that they stood up for the rights of races and persons of other religions.The Thera said that the Tamil diaspora and other people living abroad who value peace and harmony will be invited to come for talks and all necessary facilities will be provided. Ven.Hemarathana Thera said that he will contribute to activities to protect the rights of citizens who love this country, without political interference.
Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Chaitya and Raja Rata Bhikkhu University Chancellor, Venerable Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thera also discussed this matter at length and said that he will have a dialogue about this matter with the relevant parties in the future. Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe also agreed.
