Driver who withdrew Rs.16.3 Mn using Businessman’s ATM remanded

A driver who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on suspicion of stealing an ATM card of the wife of a prominent businessman in Mihintale and fraudulently withdrawing Rs.16.3 million on 163 occasions was ordered to be remanded till June 16 by the Anuradhapura Magistrate Courts.

The court ordered the management of public and private banks to provide the reports related to the suspect’s bank accounts to the Criminal Investigation Department. The suspect had worked as a driver of the businessman for a number of years.
