UNP Secretary General Palitha Range Bandara said that the Anti-Corruption Act will lay a very good foundation for the financial market and investments in the country.
Speaking at the press conference held yesterday (20) at the Sirikotha party headquarters, he further said that Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who brought piles of corruption files and showed them, will be able to raise his hand and agree to the Anti-Corruption Act on Wednesday and prove his cases.
Bandara further expressed the following views:”This week is an important week for members of Parliament because the anti-corruption bill will be discussed and passed fulfilling the hopes of the people of this country will be fulfilled.
“The Anti-Corruption Act will boost the country’s financial market and investments. Especially investors were not motivated to make their investments in this country due to various influences. With this bill, there is a possibility to build a good environment for them. It will have a direct effect on rating agencies. Therefore, the people of this country hope that all those who represent the Parliament will vote in favour of this bill and pass it. Also, it is likely that the adoption of this bill will become an important milestone at the International Monetary Fund’s upcoming review meeting in September. “The confidence of the world powers regarding the governance of our country has been confirmed. French President Emmanuel Macron has invited President Ranil Wickremesinghe to participate in a high-level conference in this backdrop.
“The World Bank is preparing to provide US dollars 700 million for budgeting relief for the vulnerable communities. The people can be really happy about the state of development that the current President who took over this country on July 20 last year has brought to this country within a year.”
