Tree falls on classroom injuring eight children

The Kegalle Police said that eight children were injured yesterday (04) afternoon and admitted to the Kegalle General Hospital when a jackfruit tree in the grounds of the Kegalle Akiriyagala Junior College fell on a building, due to strong winds.

Police said that after the tree fell, tiles on the roof fell on the heads of the children in the classroom.

Most of the injured children were treated for head injuries and some were taken home by their parents after receiving treatment.

One student had a tile fall on his shoulder and he is to be checked for a fractured shoulder.
