Sri Lanka received 100,000 more doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine this morning
A special flight carrying the consignment of the 100,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.

Another consignment of 100,000 doses of the US-made Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine arrived in Sri Lanka today.
The Advisory Board of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) approved the Emergency Use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in May this year and the first consignment of 26,000 doses of the vaccine arrived in Sri Lanka on July 5.
As per the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, a total of 252,290 individuals have already received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine while 31,605 individuals have been administered both doses.
Another 117,905 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 on Sunday (15) under the country’s vaccination programme.
Accordingly, 2,204 obtained the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, 409 the second dose, 27,016 obtained the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine, 83,518 obtained the second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine, 61 obtained the first dose of Pfizer while 4,697 were inoculated with the second dose of Pfizer.
According to statistics, a total of 4,616,266 have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country and 11,879,851 persons have received at least a single dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
