A red alert warning for Cyclonic Storm “BUREVI” was issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 7pm.
According to the warning issued, "the cyclonic storm ‘BUREVI’ over the south-west Bay of Bengal, is now located near to the island and it is expected to landfall during next two hours between Trincomalee and Point-Pedro, close to Mullaitivu"
