SriLankan pilot tests positive for COVID-19

SriLankan Airlines yesterday confirmed that one of the pilots who was in attendance at a meeting of an In-flight Management Team had tested positive for COVID-19 and all necessary precautionary measures are being taken by the Airline as per the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry to prevent the spread of the virus.

The airline in a statement added that all primary contacts of the patient were traced and referred to self-quarantine.

The Statement: “SriLankan Airlines confirms there was a meeting with the Inflight Management Team and a selected number of pilots were in attendance. Subsequently to the meeting, one of the pilots in attendance was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19 and all necessary precautionary actions were taken by the Airline as per the COVID health guidelines. All primary contacts with the pilot were identified and referred to self-quarantine until PCR tests being done.

“All others in the auditorium were declared to be no risk by the airport medical authorities since the meeting was conducted as per COVID-19 guidelines”.
