Sixty unregistered warehouses have been sealed and 2.1 million kg of paddy has been taken over by the Anuradhapura Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) in the last two weeks.

Of them, rice has been produced from 700,000 kg of paddy and handed over to the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) for the public. The CAA Officials said that unregistered warehouses had been raided in the last two weeks and will be continued in the coming weeks as well. The Government, meanwhile, is buying paddy from the farmers at the stipulated prices.

Legal action will be taken against the unregistered warehouse owners, the CAA Officials said.
