Galle Port to be made a major tourist port

Measures have been taken to develop the historic Galle Port as a major tourist port in the region.  

 

This is revealed at a media awareness program conducted in Colombo regarding the Galle port development proposal on Wednesday. Local and foreign investors, port sector business entities, diplomats and many other dignitaries participated in the awareness program, which organized by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).

 

Ports Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Cabinet Spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana represented the government at the event.    

 

Under the Galle port development proposal, two breakwaters 850 and 150 meters in length will be constructed.
