750 jeeps to police under Indian aid

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the supply of 750 jeeps to the Sri Lanka Police under the Indian Loan Scheme was signed at the Ministry of Public Security today (30) with the objective of expediting and streamlining the service provided to the public by the Sri Lanka Police.
 
The delivery of these jeeps will be carried out in three phases, with the supply of 250 jeeps before the end of August, 250 jeeps before the end of September and 250 jeeps before the end of March 2023. Its total value is 2.5 billion.
 
So far, the Sri Lanka Police has been provided with 2,000 three-wheelers, 72 vehicles under Japanese aid, including jeeps and 150 motorcycles.
 
Maj. Gen. Jagath Alwis (Rtd), Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security and Joydeep Moitra, Vice President and Head, Mahindra & Mahindra signed and exchanged agreements. Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera and IGP Chandana Wickramaratne were also present at the occasion.
