Norwegian climber sets her sights on 14 peaks record
NORWAY: A Norwegian climber is on track to beat the time record for summiting the globe’s 14 highest peaks, part of her quest to change how the mountaineering world views women athletes. Kristin Harila has already climbed six mountains over 8,000 metres high, including Everest, in the last two months. The 36-year-old hopes to match or surpass Nepali adventurer Nirmal Purja and his groundbreaking 2019 record of six months and six days.

At least 4 dead in Colmbia explosion
COLOMBIA: At least four people were killed by an explosion in the Colombian town of Cartagena del Chaira in the department of Caqueta, the Colombian Government reported on Friday. The victims were civilians travelling in a motorcar and on motorcycles. A driver, a mother and a three-year-old child died, while a 57-year-old woman later died from her injuries.

Russia destroys bridge over Ukrainian river
UKRAINE: Russian forces have blown up a bridge linking the embattled Ukrainian city of Sievierodonetsk to another city across the river, cutting off a possible evacuation route for civilians, local officials said on Sunday.
Sievierodonetsk has become the epicentre of the battle for control over Ukraine's eastern region of Donbas. Parts of the city have been pulverised in some of the bloodiest fighting since the Kremlin unleashed its invasion on February 24.

Philippines Defense Secretary faints at Independence Day event
THE PHILIPPINES: Philippines Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Sunday fainted at an Independence Day ceremony held in Manila. In a tweet, the 73-year-old leader said he was quickly getting back up on his feet like a "true soldier". He also said that the lack of sleep and rest due to his recent engagements led to fatigue and his ill health at the moment.
