Hirunika stopped near Fort barricades

Police yesterday (28) stopped a group of women, including the chairperson of the Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya, former MP Hirunika Premachandra, who were preparing to march towards the President’s House on Mudalige Mawatha in Colombo Fort.

Fort police officers set up barricades to prevent them from going towards the President’s House.

A senior Fort police official said that she did not attempt to break through the barriers and move forward and added that there was only a small group of people.

Hirunika Premachandra also staged a protest on June 22 near the private residence of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
