Social media activist Pathum Kerner has been arrested by the CID in relation to a protest held at the Polduwa junction in Battaramulla on July 13.
He was summoned to the CID on July 18, but he submitted a letter through a lawyer stating that he was suffering from an illness.
According to the police, Kerner is accused of using social media to get people to the Battaramulla Polduwa intersection, and leading the people there to break down the barriers used for the security of the Parliament.
During the protest, two army soldiers who were among the security forces who tried to control the protesters were attacked and the they had stolen the T-56 firearms and magazines containing live ammunition from them.
Meanwhile, Court has also imposed an international travel ban on Pathum Kerner.
