The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has handed over investigations regarding telephone calls received by two members of the Election Commission, asking them to quit the commission and threatening them with death, to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), yesterday (19).

As soon as IGP C. D. Wickremaratne had become aware of this information, Pathirana said that he had called to find out further details. He also said that the IGP told him that the CID was going to conduct an investigation into the incident.
