Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva said that he has three alternatives to the present tax policy of the country, through which the Government would be able to earn the same tax revenue without burdening the taxpayers.
Speaking to the media yesterday he said that the country’s tax policy should be formed based on the income of each individual.
“We will be able to earn the same expected tax revenue by maintaining the tax rate only between 18–24 per cent. I will be discussing with the Government in this regard continuously”, he added.
The Parliamentarian also invited the professionals and trade unions to meet him for discussions on the alternatives proposed by him.
Meanwhile, criticizing an alternative political party based on their proposals on tax policy, MP de Silva said that no Government would be able to earn at least a half of the expected tax revenue if such proposals are implemented.
