Teaching English to Grade I students from March end

Teaching English from Grade One of State schools will commence as per the instructions of Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha from March 30.

The syllabuses of Grades 6 to 9 and Grade 10 to 13 will also be updated to the international educational standards at all State schools. Students will be taught Information Technology (IT) along with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all State schools. By 2030, desired goals of international levels in education will be achieved by Sri Lanka and plans are now underway in this regard by the Education Ministry.

Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha will appoint 8,000 teacher trainees who pass out from National Colleges of Education to State schools and about 26,000 graduates, too, will be added to the State schools next month, said Kurunegala District Senior Director of Education W.M. Balasooriya speaking at a meeting of school heads of the Kurunegala District yesterday at the Kurunegala Provincial Education Office.
