Sun Match unveils ‘Sooriya’ a trusted household brand

Sun Match Company (Pvt) Ltd unveiled ‘SOORYA’ brand, a trusted household brand in Sri Lanka and was presented to film icon Yashodha Wimaladharma who was newly appointed as the brand ambassador for the company at an event held at Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

“We are introducing two new innovative products in the lighting product category very soon where you will have a new experience by these products,” said Suri Rajan, Chairman and Managing Director of Soorya. He said ‘Soorya’ was the first brand to introduce wax coated safety matches 36 years ago and the brand is generic to its category being a market leader in Sri Lanka. He also said that based on the success of the brand, the company also offered the discerning Sri Lankan household with incense sticks, perfume sticks and toothpicks in addition to the pioneering wax matches.Rajan also said the company plans to build a very strong rapport and favorability within the market according to the new brand strategy. “The goal of a brand strategy is to become memorable in the eyes of the consumer so that they decide to patronize our business over the competition,” he said.Speaking at the ceremony Director of Sun Match Prasad Rajan said the company encourages SME’s in their whole business process both in production and distribution where 40 distributors across the country are depending on this business. He further said that customized ‘Soorya’ wax matches are produced to many leading hotels in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
