The Homagama Poson Zone will be held from tomorrow after a lapse of three years to mark the Poson Full Moon Day with the help of private and public sector institutions.
In conjunction with this, an exposition of the sacred relics found from the historical Neelagiri Seya will also be held at Homagama Sri Sugathabimbarama Temple on June 3, 4 and 5 from 2 pm to 10 pm.
During this Poson festival, a replica of the Aukana Buddha statue erected by the Tri-Forces at the Panagoda Army Camp as a tribute to the war heroes, will be displayed for devotees to pay their respect.
About 1,200 devotees are expected to participate in the sil campaign which will be telecast by ITN on Poson Full Moon day. Many religious activities such as alms givings, sil campaigns and meditation programmes have been organised at the temple to mark the Poson Full moon day.
The number of programmes that will be held on the Full Moon day will include a medical clinic organized by the Green University, a blood donation campaign, book dansala, Bakthi gee recital, puppet shows, and many cultural events.
A rice dansala to cater to 60,000 persons will also be held at this location. The Army is also holding an exhibition of lanterns from Godagama to Meegoda.
A SLTB bus service will be provided daily in the night to Colombo and Awissawella in adddition to the special train service for the Poson festival.
The police will put in place a special traffic plan covering the Poson zone and the adjacent areas.
