No election will be held easily until the authorities are on the presumption that there is a chance for National People’s Power (NPP) to win an election.
Jathika Jana Balavegaya, National Executive Member K.D. Lalkantha said that these rulers will not hold elections and the people have to demand an election .
He said this while joining a demonstration held in Anuradhapura recently. He added that country has a government which does not respect the ruling of the apex court of the country. “The government is treading on a dangerous path by violating the Constitution and rules and regulations in relation to the Local Government election,”he said.
Lal Kantha added the government has started talking of a referendum. He recollected how former President J.R. Jayawardene won the election by holding infamous referendum in 1982.
