Interest free loans for 5,000 A/L students to pursue education

According to the Ministry of Education, from today (04) 5,000 students who studied in the Advanced Level streams in 2019, 2020 and 2021 can apply for interest free loans to pursue education at private universities.

State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the children who receive the relevant loan should study job-oriented courses. “He said applications can be submitted from July 4 to August 7. If there are more than 5000 eligible applicants, loan recipients will be decided according to the Z-Score obtained at the exam,” he added.
