In a commendable initiative aimed at enhancing social welfare, the Navy came forward to provide safe drinking water to pilgrims engaged in Kataragama ‘Paada Yaathra’ from June 10 to 29. The Navy, as part of its Naval Social Responsibility initiatives, set up a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in the ‘Yala Lin Thuna’ area to quench the thirst of devotees during their arduous journey.

The initiative was set in motion following the directives of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and under the supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Saman Perera.

The RO plant has provided over 60,000 litres of water for more than 27,000 devotees. The initiative has received high praise from devotees and organizations.
