Former Minister and Ambassador U.B.Wijekoon passed away at the age of 79 at the Kandy Hospital yesterday.
Wijekoon was the District Minister for Jaffna during President J.R. Jayewardene’s time and was also Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Moscow in 2003/2004.
He also held the portfolio of Minister of Public Administration. The former Minister’s body has been handed over to the Peradeniya University Medical Faculty heeding a request made by him prior to his death.
