A schoolboy drowned when he went for a bath in Kalu Ganga at Ihala Opalle Bulathsinhale on Sunday afternoon. He was identified as Opallege Buddhi Chamikara, 16, of Ihala Opalla, a grade 11 student of Horana Sri Palee Maha Vidyalaya.
Investigations revealed that he was a novice learning to swim with the aid of two bamboo sticks.
The body was removed to the Horana hospital and handed over to relatives after the post mortem examination.
