Grama Sevaka caught in bribery act

A Grama Sevaka attached to the Godakawela Divisional Secretariat who had solicited a bribe of Rs.5000 was nabbed by Bribery Commission officers on Thursday.

Bribery and Corruption Commission Director, SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri said the suspect Grama Sevaka was arrested at the time of his attempt to take Rs 5,000 from a businessman to recommend transporting several tree trunks to a timber sawing mill.

The suspect was to be produced before the Magistrate Courts of Pelmadulla by the Bribery Corruption Commission.
