The Ja-Ela Electorate Organiser of the United National Party (UNP) does not have to interfere with my political activities in the area, Gampaha District Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardena said.

He was speaking to the gathering at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Daham Pasal building for the Tudella The Shrine of Our Lady of Marada Madu Church yesterday.

Ja-Ela UNP Organizer Joseph Michael Perera visited the ceremony earlier to Jaywardena and departed expressing his displeasure over its agenda.

Jayewardena said it is his duty to serve the people who elected him to Parliament. He said Minister Sajith Premadasa provided him with Rs. 40 lakhs to build the Daham School for the church and he fulfilled his task. He said, however, those who have been with him for over 40 years are now restricting his service. He said those rejected by the people must allow young politicians to serve the people without pelting stones being in glass houses. Rev. Fr. Linton Joseph of the Tudella Adakkala Shrine of Our Lady Church, Rev. Fr. Nihal Rodrigo, Provincial Councillor Nirosha Atukorale and a large gathering participated.
