Earthquake in Indonesia; no threat to Sri Lanka - Met Dept.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 struck near Indonesia (Northern Molucca Sea) last night , the Department of Meteorology said, but there were no initial tsunami warnings.

Issuing a special statement the Met. Department said that there is no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka at present with the effect of above Earthquake. Therefore, the coastal areas of Sri Lanka are declared safe.
