Lanka Men’s team runner-up, Women’s team 2nd runner-up

India beats Sri Lanka at the Men’s Team event by 3/0 at the 8th ICF Cup held in Pune, Mumbai, India from 2nd to 6th December while Maldives beats Sri Lanka by 2/1 at the Women’s team event second place fight. Sri Lanka took-part at this tournament as the defending world champions in men’s category and runner-up in women’s category, defeating 23 countries.

ICF championships conduct in once four years and there were four events namely Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Team and Women’s Team and 100 players from 16 countries participated.

However, India was able to win all the titles of both Men’s and women’s single and team events as well as the Swiss League events.

However, Nishantha Fernando and Shaheed Hilmy were able to secure 6th and 7th places and Rebecca Dalrine, Maduka Dilshani and Joseph Roshita were able to secure 5th, 6th and 8th positions of international rankings.

Sri Lankan contingent returned to the island on 8th December and received by the officials of the Sports Ministry and the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka. Daya Widanagama / General Secretary of CFSL, Ravi Wickramasinghe / VP, Amitha Wickramasinghe / Tournament Secretary and Sunanda Kodagoda / Selection Committee member were participated at this occasion.

Vice President of CFSL Susantha Fernando and Asst. Sec. Karunaratne Jayasinghe were the officials of this tour.

Men’s team- runners-up: Nishantha Fernando (Captain - SL Navy), Shaheed Hilmy (Royal Collage), Anas Ahamed (SL Army), Dineth Dulakshana (SL Air Force)

Women’s team – 2nd runner-up: Joseph Roshita (captain - SL Navy), Maduka Dilshani (SL Army), M. Chitradevi (SL Army), Rebecca Dalrine (SL Army)
