Leader of the Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) Suresh Premachandra has decided to change the name of his party to Tamil People’s Council under a new symbol and form a coalition with several other parties prior to the forthcoming General Election.
This follows a request made by former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran at a political discussion held on January 6. Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam too has agreed to join the new coalition. During the discussion, C.V. Wigneswaran had said they could capture more than four seats in the Jaffna District if they contest the forthcoming election as a coalition of parties. The EPRLF Leader had said he would make arrangements with the Election Commissioner to register the new party and its symbol and come back to them soon.
