Digitalisation of over 35’s health data by 2023 -Minister Wanniarachchi

Sixty-three percent digitalisation of health records of Sri Lankans who are above 35 will be carried out by 2023, Women and Child Affairs, Social Security, Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.

The Minister was addressing a meeting held at the Health Ministry recently.

According to Minister Wanniarachchi, 100 percent of data will be digitalised on a daily basis from 2023. The risk of developing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) increases after the age of 35; therefore, close observation is required. She pointed out that it is expected to formulate a plan to screen all Sri Lankans who are above 35 by 2023, and detect possible NCDs or the possibility of developing NCDs. It is expected to network over 1,000 state health institutions by 2023, which provide primary healthcare to people. Some state health institutions are already in this network.

A sum of US$ 200 million has already been allocated by the World Bank to upgrade primary healthcare in Sri Lanka. The programme is being implementated as a special project of the World Bank.
