A stock of lime at a fair.in Moneragala.
Farmers of Moneragala lament they cannot sell their lime harvest since the prices of limes have dropped drastically now.
They said the wholesale price of a kg of lime is now Rs. 20 and that price is not enough for them to cover the money they need to carry their harvest to the weekly fair.
Farmers of Madulla, Medagama, Bibila, Siyabalanduwa and Moneragala mainly depend on lime growing.
They said traders reject their limes now and even bargain to buy them at a price lower than Rs. 20.
