Former SPC chairman's travel ban lifted temporarily

Former State Pharmaceuticals Corporation chairman Mohommed Rumi Mohommed Azeem’s travel ban was temporarily lifted by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathne.

The former SPC Chairman Mohommed Rumi was charged with allegedly giving Rs.2 million to two persons, who spoke about alleged ‘white van’ abductions at a press conference prior to the last Presidential Election.

When the case was taken up before court, the defence attorney representing the former SPC chairman sought the court to temporarily lift the overseas travel ban on their client from April 10th to 25th as he is scheduled to attend a foreign tea exhibition.

When the matter was taken up before court, the Attorney-at-law Gunarathne Wanninayake appearing on behalf of the suspect requested to temporarily lift the overseas travel ban on their client from April 10th to 25th as he is scheduled to attend a foreign tea exhibition.
