BASL mulls closing of court houses

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) observed that court houses in the country should be closed from Tuesday the 17th of March up until 20th of March, 2020, if preventive measures are not taken on an urgent basis taking into consideration the magnitude and serious consequences of Coronavirus epidemic.

Issuing a press release regarding the situation that has developed in the country owing to Coronavirus (COVID-19),the BASL Secretary Kaushalya Navaratne stated that hygienic conditions in most courts are highly questionable and unless closely monitored the court houses could become the breeding ground for this epidemic.
