‘Students facing A/L exam in Matugama safe from COVID-19’

Measures have been taken to protect the students at the A/L Exam centres in Matugama, and health security has been provided for them and the examination inspectors on duty, Matugama Zonal Education Director Lal Dissanayake and Administrative Public Health Inspector (PHI) P.D. Lionel said.

Five candidates in quarantine are placed at special exam halls, and the exam centers in the Matugama Education Zone are continuing smoothly following the health guidelines, the Matugama Zonal Education said.

Administrative Public Health Inspector P.D. Lionel said that 41 PCR tests were conducted on Wednesday and 40 families were directed to self-quarantine.

He said that the bus workers who were confirmed to have contracted the virus were sent to the Welikanda Quarantine Center.

Agalawatta Administrative Public Health Inspector Chandana Thewarapperuma said that several families in Agalawatta have been quarantined and garment workers in the areas in Matugama are sent on leave.

An official from the Wallalawita MOH said that the weekly fare of Wallalawita has been halted and the associates of the virus-infected nurse are traced.

Health officials urge the people of Matugama, Yatadola, Ovitigala, Pelawatta, Meegahatenna and other areas to minimize outdoor activities and to follow the health rules.
