Sri Lanka Army Woman Soldier, Sachini Perera was the star on the second day of the National Athletics Championships which continued at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday.

Perera setup a new Sri Lanka record while clearing the bar with a height of 3.56m in the Women’s Pole Vault.

Meanwhile, S. B. S. Dissanayake who represented the Kandy District Athletic Association was able to achieve a comfortable victory in the Women’s Pentathlon, securing 3,526 points.

Sri Lanka Army Men and Women were well ahead in the points table with Sri Lanka Air Force athletes also in contention.
