A businessman was arrested with a micro pistol, one magazine and seven bullets in the Kapumulla area in Rathgama on Tuesday afternoon, the Special Task Force (STF) Headquarter Operations Unit said.
The micro-pistol, magazine and ammunition were found buried in the back of his new house which is being built. The arrested suspect is a passenger bus operator as well as a fishing boat owner, the STF said.
The STF also said that the arrested suspect had been shot earlier. He is a resident of Rathgama area.
On information received by the STF Special Operations Unit, the suspect has been arrested and is in the custody of the Rathgama Police for further investigations.
The suspect was arrested by a team of officers including the OIC of the Special Operations Unit, Chief Inspector A.H.M Manohara on the instructions of the Commanding Officer of the Special Task Force, DIG Waruna Jayasundara, SSP Ratnapitiya and ASP T.P.U. Kodithuwakku.
