The body of Dinura Wijesundara, who was reported missing following an excursion to Mini World’s End in Madolsima was found, said the Army Commander General Shavendra Silva.

A combined Army team of the Special Forces (SF) and 112 Brigade troops, together with Policemen and civilians for the third consecutive day resumed operations to trace the whereabouts of a 35-year-old from Kalutara who had gone missing in dense jungles around the Mini World’s End cliff area in Kotagama Grama Niladhari Division in Bibila.

The search operation conducted by a group of Army Special Forces for the missing youth in the forest areas of Kotagama, Egoda in Bibila Punchi Lokanthaya (Little World’s end) at Kokagala, Madolsima on Sunday evening was postponed for the second day yesterday (8) due to the unfavourable weather.

“The operation conducted by 36 Army personnel which was suspended due to the mist and rain will commence today,” said Kotagama Grama Seva Niladari Hemantha Wickramasinghe.

The Army personnel suspect that the remains of the missing youth might be found on the upper canopy of the forestry area.

D. Dinura Wijesundara (34) of Maggona, Kalutara had gone with a group of 12 to camp at the Punchi Lokanthaya. The group had encountered bad weather and strong winds while on their way to Punchi Lokanthaya, and found Wijesundara missing at dawn. He is suspected to have fallen from the Punchi Lokanthaya.
