Thalaimannar collision: Rail gates were kept open

Police investigations into the private bus-train collision at the Thalaimannar railway crossing on Tuesday revealed that the rail gates had been left open as the gatekeeper had been on leave, it was revealed during the Police interrogations of the private bus driver and conductor who are in custody.

A 9-year-old boy and 25 others suffered injuries in the collision. Twenty out of the 30 passengers on board the bus were schoolchildren.
