The National Youth Services Council (NYSC) launched a project recently to find youth with sports skills who aren’t taking part in any events. The programme, titled ‘Talent Hut’, will be held at 12 locations across the country, Puttalam District NYSC Assistant Director Anil Siri Herath said.
Two recruiting events under the project were held in Chilaw and Kilinochchi, yesterday. Youth from the Puttalam, Gampaha, Anuradhapura, and Kurunegala districts participated in them, Herath said. He added that around 240 female youth participated in the events.
Identifying talented youth in rural areas and helping them reach national and international-level events is the main purpose of the project, the Assistant Director said.
