The "Shankar Award 2021" had been given to encourage young leadership for the first time in the history of Puttalam. Puttalam city social worker and business tycoon Shanker initiated the award and presented it.
The awards were presented to young leaders in Puttalam who have made contributions in various fields including arts, culture, sports, education, social development and health. The award ceremony was held recently at Shankar Vila, Mannar Road, Puttalam.
Shankar said the main purpose of the event was to encourage young leaders to achieve many things in life.
He added that he would continue to hold such events year after year to motivate the youth.
Poet S A C P Marikkar was the Guest of Honour at the award ceremony.
