Attorney General Dappula de Livera PC who served as the 47th Attorney General of Sri Lanka is will retire today.
Attorney General Dappula de Livera was appointed as the acting Attorney General on April 29, 2019 by former President Maithripala Sirisena and his appointment was confirmed on May 7, 2019 by the Constitutional Council and sworn in on May 10, 2019.
De Livera concluded action in 27,206 criminal cases during his tenure; this was done during the two year term of the Attorney General from May 2019 to May 2021.
Sanjay Rajaratnam PC was appointed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the 48th Attorney General of Sri Lanka and the Parliamentary Council approved his appointment as Attorney General replacing de Livera.
Co-ordinating Officer to the Attorney General State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said she will relinquish duties as the Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General from today.
