Kalmunai to get 50,000 Sinopharm vaccines - DGHS

Director General of Health Service (DGHS) Dr. Asela Gunawardene along with health sector officials visited to Kalmunai on Sunday to look into the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the Kalmunai Regional areas. He assured that the Kalmunai area will be provided 50,000 Sinopharm vaccines within next week.

An official discussion was held under the patronage of the Director General of Health Services regarding the health situation in the region including mitigating the spread of COVID-19. The DGHS visited the Kalmunai Ashraff Memorial Hospital, Kalmunai North Base Hospital, Akkaraipattu Base Hospital and Pottuvil Base Hospitals to look into the needs and facilities available.

Dr. G. Sugunan told the Daily News that the Director General of Health Service and medical team were briefed about the difficulties and shortcomings faced in the area. DGHS Dr. Asela Gunawardene and team appreciated the commitment and dedicated measures taken by the Kalmunai RDHS to control the spread of COVID-19. The discussion was also focused on the new construction for RMSD, vehicle facilities to MOHs and Consultant & Medical Officers and for the Ninthavur and Thirukovil Hospitals.

DGHS Asela Gunawardene, PDHS Dr. Mohamed Thowfeek, DDG Dr. L. Panapitiya, DDG Dr. Sudath Dharmaratne , Director Laboratory Dr. Vijith Gunasekara, Director TCS Dr. Ayanthy Karunarathane, Director MSD Dr.Kapila, DRDHS, all MSs of Base Hospitals and regional heads were present.
